The Victorious Scholars After-School (VSAP) program's mission is to provide a high quality, after-school program that is based on the S.A.F.E. evidence-based model. VSAP operates in a culturally relevant and stimulating learning environment based on strong positive interaction and engagement among staff, students, and parents. The four S.A.F.E. factors are defined as following:
S- Sequential, step-by-step training approach for staff
A- Active, experiential and interactive forms of mental, physical, and social learning
F- Focus on specific time and attention on skill development
E- Explicit in clearly defining the specific learning skills being enhanced.
The VSAP after – school program focuses on the following four areas of improving: Reading literacy; Improving science, technology, engineering and mathematic competency skills, Improving relationships among family & friends, and improving recreational activities of students to promote better physical health.
VBM partners with Saginaw Valley State University, College of Education Department & the College of Science, Engineering, & Technology. The students will interact with Dow Chemical groups, the National Association of Black Engineers and African-American Network to assist with STEM related activities.
